How Family Sharing Helps Caregivers

January 20, 2026·4 min read

If you have an elderly parent, a spouse with hypertension, or any family member whose blood pressure you worry about, you know the challenge: you want to stay informed, but you don’t want to be intrusive. Heartitly’s family sharing feature bridges that gap.

The Caregiver’s Challenge

Many people with hypertension live independently, and that’s a good thing. But for family members who care about their health, the lack of visibility can be stressful. Did Mom take her reading today? Is Dad’s blood pressure trending up? Without a simple way to check, these questions often lead to anxious phone calls or go unanswered.

How It Works

Setting up family sharing takes less than a minute. The person being monitored opens Heartitly, goes to Profile → Family Sharing, and taps “Generate Invite Code.” This creates a unique 6-character code that’s valid for 7 days.

The caregiver enters this code in their own Heartitly app under “Join Family.” That’s it. From that point on, they can view their family member’s readings, trends, and statistics right from their own device.

Privacy and Control

  • Sharing is always initiated by the person being monitored — never the other way around
  • Access is strictly read-only: caregivers can view readings but cannot edit, delete, or add data
  • The person sharing can revoke access at any time with a single tap
  • All shared data is protected by the same encryption and security measures as personal data

Peace of Mind for Families

With family sharing, a daughter in another city can glance at her phone and see that her mother’s blood pressure was 122/78 this morning — no phone call needed. If a reading looks concerning, she can reach out. If everything looks normal, she has peace of mind.

For the person being monitored, it’s equally valuable. Knowing that someone cares enough to check in can be motivating. Many users report being more consistent about taking their daily readings once they know a family member is watching their progress.

Getting Started

Both the person sharing and the caregiver need a Heartitly account (Guest mode doesn’t support family sharing since guest data stays on the device only). Once both parties have accounts, setting up sharing takes about 30 seconds.
